Life at The Oaks

Visitors are always welcome, but here's a peak behind the scenes in the meantime...

We are committed to creating an enriching and safe environment, enabling all our learners to thrive. Through success in their learning and development, they can fully participate in their chosen pathway once they leave education.

Our Refurbishment Journey

The Oaks was transformed into a vibrant educational provision. We provide our learners with opportunities to gain valuable life skills that are supported in a holistic and individualised way.

Propel Initiative

We are founding partners in the national Propel initiative. Our shared vision is to generate and support opportunities beyond education for young adults with learning difficulties and/or disabilities to lead positive, fulfilled lives. Thus, enabling them to contribute to society through meaningful employment.

The Oaks provides preparation, support, and guidance for the young people, and for the recruiting organisation. Together we create an environment and culture for the employee to grow and excel in their role.

Our ethos is centred around providing opportunities for everyone to thrive in safe, purposeful, and sustainable employment. This allows the individual, the employer, local communities and the national economy to all reap the rewards.

Microsoft Showcase accreditation

The Oaks has been recognised for the incredible impact the college has in using technology to increase autonomy and independence for local young adults with learning difficulties.
We were awarded Microsoft Showcase College for 2022-2023 and recently attained the same for 2023-2024. Microsoft award this prestigious status to “an elite group of colleges that exemplify the best teaching and learning in the world today.”
