Preparation for Adulthood Curriculum
Our Preparation for Adulthood curriculum is tailored to meet our learners' individual needs.
We provide learners with the support they require to continue to learn transferable skills through the English, Maths and ICT curriculum, together with personal and social skills development and enrichment programmes.
We offer a range of Functional Skills and NCFE Qualifications. Learners’ study programmes are personalised so they can achieve their potential.
Accredited and Non-Accredited Learning
The Oaks offer accreditation in English and Maths Functional Skills and Certificates, ranging from Entry Level 1 to Level 1-2. For some learners qualifications and accreditation are not appropriate to support good life outcomes. Their study programmes will be assessed using the RARPA system. All achievements and successes are celebrated.
Preparation for Working Life
Work-Related Activities are included in our study programmes and all learners are able to participate in work related learning. We have an expanding range of supported placements and connections with local businesses, including the NHS. The Preparation for Adulthood Framework sits at the heart of our offer. The individual learning routes will have their own distinct identity that allows for personalisation whilst maintaining the quality of each study programme.
All our learners have Education, Health and Care (EHC) Plans. Suitability of placement is based upon the assessment of the College’s ability to meet each individuals’ needs within their EHC Plan. Learners need to be engaged with the College curriculum and show willingness to participate, progress and achieve their goals.
